Audio Systems: Connecting pc to avr, yamaha htr 5840, line level input

I have a Yamaha HTR-5840 receiver and would like to know if I can connect my pc to it to play back the music files I have. Also, if it can be done how do I  go about doing it. Please let me know when you can. Thank you.

Dear Tim,

There is a "Line Out" jack on your PC's soundcard. Most of the time these are connected to speakers. All you have to do is disconnect your PC's speakers from the Line Out jack, and connect that to any available line level input (anything except PHONO; they're all electronically equivalent) on your receiver. The sound card will accommodate a 1/8" stereo minijack. The receiver will use dual (L/R channel) RCA jacks. Get a stereo minijack-to-RCA converter cable at Radio Shack, and you're in business.
