bought my son 2002 mustang, with 6 cd changer in it, it will not owrk, it shows that it is loaded with 6 cd, but when u go to reject nothing happens and cd error message come up.  any ideals.

thank you

Answer -
Reset the cd player. Easiast way is to find the wire that is power it and temporarily disconnect power for about 30 minutes.  Then power again.

If no help, it is possible the controller IC is shot.  You will need an tech to look at it and diagnose the problem.

Check the power going to the changer; it is possible you have power to the head unit in the dash, but the changer box does not; bad fuse or broken wire, etc.

Hope this helps.

Answer
Here is what to do: Turn off everything in the car.  Make sure the key is off.  Raise the hood and lift the positive cable off the battery.  That will kill power to the entire car.

You will have to reset the clock and anything else that is on standby power.  But this operation will reset the cd unit.

Now, if the reset does not clear the problem, then the difficulty is internal and you must have it serviced - or replaced.

Now days, unless it is a really expensive unit, the replacement cost is often less than a service/repair charge.

There is a wide range of cd players that will fit the mustang for prices from $49 up to several hundred dollars.
