Audio Systems: Antenna Adapter, mael, antenna

Question
Do I need an antenna adapter for an aftermarket CD player if I don't listen to the radio.

Answer

Hi Carl,

As simple as this question may seem, it is rather hard to be specific in answering you since no specific information was  given about the gear you have or the year/make of the vehicle you are interfacing it to, so bear in mind that this is a general answer.

IF you use an 'FM modulated' aftermarket CD player/changer, you WILL need to have the antenna plugged in, and adaptors MAY be needed (eg...if you have a size mis-match at the antenna lead connectors).

Most antenna wires [and their connectors] are of a common size, but if there is a size difference, you would need an adaptor to attain a nice, snug connection.

If you have an in-dash aftermarket CD player, it is generally not mandatory that the antenna is plugged in but it can be a good additional ground point.
Either way, the situation is the same as the MF modulated setup as to needing the adaptor.

ooops!!
Of course, I meant to type:
