Audio Systems: Pioneer car radio, pioneer car radio, pioneer cd player

Question
Just purchased a 1988 Saleen Mustang with the factory Pioneer SuperTuner cassette radio and equalizer. The radio lights up only, I think it may need a code. There is a small picture of a key on the face of the radio that indicates a code security. I don't have the owners manual for the car, and don't know where to get help. I would appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks, Dave

Answer
I sold Pioneer for 10 years and the only OEM installs I even saw were in Lexus cars and Ford rangers. I have never seen a Saleen up close (pretty rare in Canada) but you could remove the unit and have a Pioneer repair shop try to unlock it. You may also want to consider upgrading the whole thing to a new Pioneer CD player. Fixing a deck that's almost 20 years old is not something I'd recommend.
