Audio Systems: car stereo smoking, vw jetta, monsoon system

Question
I just pulled out my old panasonic deck to replace it with a new one so I changed the wiring harness and plugged it in and it was working fine for a day. Then I was driving down the road and it started smoking and turned off. theres a fuse on the back of the stereo that was blown, I thought i might have fried the stereo but when  i opened it up there were no burn marks. What do you think went wrong Cause i've been through the wires and everything is wired correctly. Do you think the stereo is fixable. I have a 2004 vw jetta w/o the monsoon system. Thanks

it is hard to know check your wires  again remember that there is the amplifier hanging from the rear deck in the trunk right side it is posible that power when back to the radio
