Audio Systems: no sound from speakers, removable face plate, panasonic radio

Hi,
I have a '94 explorer  and a panasonic radio/cd player with removable face plate. The display lights come on and everything seems to be working, but there are no sounds. How do I remove the stereo and fix the problem?

I need more information to properly help you, but how about checking your fuses. Does the radio remember the time and radio presets. Some will come on without memory power, but have no audio output. You may have a shorted speaker as well. The radio goes into protection mode to prevent the amp from self destructing. If it's an older deck, the internal amp may be shot.
