Audio Systems: Connecting 2 speaker on a 4 speaker system, sony receiver, chanels

Question
I am installing a Sony receiver on my boat that will connect to 2 speakers only.  Can I connect both the front and back outputs for each speaker on each side and hopefully get greater output power?

this technique is called bridging the chanels together but it only works on amps that are "bridgeable" The amplifier has to be specifically designed for this purpose and cd players by themselvs are never designed to work this way.  If you need more power you will have to get an amp.
