Audio Systems: Pioneer Receiver, pioneer receiver, old pioneer

Question
We have a relatively new (2 yrs old) Pioneer VSX-D812 receiver.  We were using it this morning and sometime during the day we had a power outage and now all it does is blink red on the standby indicator.  We've unplugged it and tried and tried again, but can't get the power to come on.  It is connected to a powersurge strip along with our other components and they all work fine.  Any ideas on what we can do?

Answer
Dear Marc,

First, check any user servicable fuses. If any is broken, replace it with one of the same value.

Having a surge protector is a good idea, but a surge protector won't guarantee (read the fine print) that your system is bullet proof. You may have had the thermal protection circuits tripped. These are usually reset when you unplug/plug the unit. However, you've done this and no change. I think you should contact Pioneer's tech support and see what remedial alternatives they can suggest.

Kindest regards,

Kevin
