Audio Systems: no sound from Koss receiver.., proper playback, koss ks3102

Question
Hey Kevin,
i have a KOSS KS3102 home theater system. it has worked well for 2 years. I moved to a new place and reinstalled it, but now no sound from the speakers. I tried fiddling with the speaker setup, but no luck. HOWEVER, there is sound if i use headphones. Can you tell me what the problem could be? Thanks.

Answer
Dear Sam,

External speakers and headphones are driven by separate internal amplifiers, so it's possible to get sound from the 'phones and no sound from the speakers and vice versa.

Since none of your speakers work, I'd first check user-servicable fuses. Make sure they're intact. Replace them only with fuses of the same value. Second, I'd make sure that the speakers are turned "on" from the home theater set-up menu; that is, you've selected the proper playback channel from your audio menu (pp. 16-17 of the user's manual). Third, make sure that you haven't accidentally engaged the MUTE button.

If none of these easy fixes work, Koss (www.kosselectronics.ca) has a fairly extensive customer support capability on line. Don't be afraid to give them a holler and see if they can't help you out.

Good luck. And thanks for choosing allexperts.com!

Kindest regards,

Kevin
