Audio Systems: Radio-CD Unit in our 2003 Honda Civic, alcohol swabs, radio cd

Question
After car battery replacement the radio-CD unit will not work but gives an error message. We attempted to enter the code to restart the unit, to no avail. One of the set buttons on the unit has never worked and that button's # is needed in the reset code. The dealer tells us by phone the only fix is to replace the radio-cd unit entirely. Seems like a waste. Any work-arounds or suggestions?

Answer
If you are tech savvy, you could pull the radio, take it apart, and use alcohol swabs to clean the switch pad on the buttons, or even repair the cold solder joints inside.
Too much? Then swap it out, perhaps for a nice aftermarket unit.
