Question -
Dear Kelly,
I have a Pioneer Amp GM1200 it's second hand and does not power up red light not come on the external fuse and some diodes with an ohm meter. I can't see ant internal fuse but loads of flat type transistors, I've taken the board out and looked underneath. I don't see any burnt out tracks or components. Do you know what the problem is likely to be? If you know where am I likely to buy the right components from?

Best Regard,

Jason

If there is nothing obvious, the power suplly is probably shot. Just go buy a new amp, that model was not anything great, and it's not worth your time.

Answer
The output transistors. Typically, there is one vary large, expensive chip, or 10 smaller ones all along the heat sink. Regardless, they are expensive and labour intensive to change.
DO you have a temp. controlled soldering station, solder sucker (or solder braid) and  a digital multimeter?
