Audio Systems: 03 Corolla - replacing Factory Stock Speakers, step by step directions, stock speakers

Question
Hello kelly,

I am trying to replace the factory stock speakers on my wife's car. The car is a 2003 Toyota Corolla with 6 speakers... I plan to replace the speakers in the front door panel and rear speakers.

I kind of liked the Infinity reference 6012I ( 6.5" 2 Way Spekaers ) for the front door and the Infinity reference 9612I ( 6" X 9" 2 Way Speakers ) for rear. I have the following questions for you :

Do you have any suggestions in terms of speakers from any other manufacturers ( like JBL, Blaupunkt etc. ) ?

Can I change the speakers on my own or will I have to take it in to a technician ?

Is there any website online where I can get step by step directions on how to change the speakers for the front door speakers ?

If possible, I would like to give some audio controls on the steering wheel like changing the song and volume... Not sure if a device exists which I can hook up into the stock audio system for this specific make of the car ? If you have any information on that, do let me know.

If you can think of any other challenges a novice like me would face while changing the speakers, do let me know.

Thanks,
Navin

Answer
All the brands you mention are excellent. As for doing your own swap, it's just time consuming. There are lots of clips to pop, and screws to remove. Just take your time, and don't forget to look at ALL sides of a panel before tugging too hard. The rears usually have to come out the top, sorry I have no sheets for this car.
