Auto body repair & detailing: PPG Paints, ppg industries, bmw x3

Hi,

I had a shopping cart damage on my black BMW X3 tailgate. I took it to a bodyshop at my place.

The paint they uses is PPG. I have never heard about that brand?

Is it a good one? Will they have correct paintcode for BMW?

PPG Industries formally known as Ditzler Color Co. has been in the automotive paint business for over 100 years. I have been selling their products going on 15 years. I can safely say PPG has some of the best products on the market today. The reason you don't hear about them is because their marketing is directed toward Collision Shops, major automobile manufacturers, and other manufacturers that use paint to finish their products. Quite honestly you most likely have many literally hundreds of items in and around your home that have PPG paint applied to them. Everything from childrens toys, kitchen appliances, computer components, just to name a few.

PPG has great color documentation. They record not only all the major car manufacturer's color codes, they also record many of the variations that come from those factories where the vehicles were produced. So rest assured that the color on your BMW should match and hold up for years to come provided your collision shop does a good job.
