Audio Systems: Magnavox mrd210 home theater system, s video cable, antenna input

I can not get my tv (sony) sound to come through my surround sound speakers.  They work fine for dvd's, cd's, ect.  I just can't get that to work.  I had it hooked up with the svideo and then without it but still nothing.  What do I need to do?

Dear Jimmy,

The S-video cable only carries the video portion of the program. You need to connect the AUDIO OUT of the TV to an AUDIO IN on your receiver.

The alternative is to connect your incoming coaxial signal (antenna, cable, satellite) to the ANTENNA IN on the VCR and connect the ANTENNA OUT on the VCR to the ANTENNA input on your TV. Then, when you want the TV's sound to come through the receiver's speakers, turn on the VCR and set its channel to the same channel that you're watching on your TV. That should work also.
