Audio Systems: do i need a new cd player?, kenwood cd player, flat cable

Question
Hi there. I have a Kenwood cd player that I bought back in 2002 and it just recently stopped working...a couple of months ago i would have to manuver it to the side for the player to keep working and now it doesn't work at all. When I turn the car on the faceplate will flip out, the faceplate will light up, then it will go dark. Obviously it's not getting power, but i removed it, checked the wires and the fuses and everthing seems to be fine. I called the place where I bought it and he said it sounds like a "mod amp" in back of the deck. Any help would be appreciated. I love the deck and would rather not get rid of it.
Thank you for your time!
Stephanie

Answer
Hi Stephanie!
What happened there is that the flat cable that connects the moving face with the main body has worn out, a a result it looses contact wen opening, it needs to be replaced but it should be done by a tech since it is needed to dissasemble many parts including the face itself.
