Audio Systems: levels, tonal control, maximum gain

Question
I have a question concerning input and output level adjustment of my crossover.
My deck has fixed output levels for the RCA's but the crossover has input and output level pots.
Do I want them in the middle of their range or do I set one low and one high..ect, for lowest noise and maximum gain matching to the amps.
Also, since the crossover has both in/output pots, should I set the amps to 100% and use the crossover to deal with each amps' level?

It is a 3-way 6-channel crossover.

I have heard these settings can make a huge difference in the clarity and headroom.

Thnx

Answer
HI Larry!
That's an all time confusion when it comes to set up a multi-band amplified system, the easiest way and the less confusing is to set the amps to its max level, adjust the crossover output to match the high-low balance and with the crossover input, adjust the general level, remember that if you have a equalizer or any tonal control it must be set to flat to make the adjustements, also the sound should be "flat"
it means that you'll hear more predominance in the mids than in the normal use, that can be corrected later with the user tonal control.
