Audio Systems: car radio confused after battery went dead, message tape, voltage change

Question
Since the car battery was drawn down and then jump started the radio has not worked. It is getting power and responds to button pushing but acts as if it has lost all of its settings. Instead of the radio playing when it is turned on it presents the message "tape->" but it is not a tape player so the message makes no sense. When I input a CD it says "error". I can force it to display a radio station but it makes no sound. When I seek for stations it just runs around all of the bands.

It is a radio shack product and says "weather - equalizer" on the front but has no model number visible (Do I have to pull it out of the dash to get the model number? How do I do that?). I have no manual for the radio as it came with the car.

Have you heard of a problem like this? Should I pull the fuse and power it completely down to see if it resets itself somehow?

thanks

Answer
Hi Susan!
You're right, remove the fuse for a couple of minutes (or check for a "RESET" hidden button) and restore it. If it still bad after that, is likely that the Microprocessor has been damaged due to the sudden voltage change, if so, better get a new radio than trying to fix that.
