Audio Systems: DVD problem, unit thanks, lasr

My DVD player ( 3 months old, Toshiba) suddenly flashing "incorrect disc" for any DVD inserted. DVDs in question work on our 2 other players. TV in question works fine with our VCR. Have gone thru the laundy list- it is the right type (1 or 2), child lock is not on, is in right side up ect. Rechecked setup for component/composite etc.? Is it possible the lasr gave out after 3 mos? We paid 50$ for the unit. Thanks, Gail Lee

The good news is that you paid only fifty bucks. To fix it would cost a lot more than replacing it. Trash it. Buy another for $50 until it dies.

The alternative is to pay $300-400 for something solidly built that will last more than a few months. If that's your choice, I recommend Onkyo DVD players for their build quality.
