Audio Systems: 1996 Chevy P/U CD/Radio, radio head, circuit city

Question
My truck was rear ended and since then my factory remote CD player would not work properly. It started to etch lines onto the CD, it would also act as though a CD was just loaded into it (which it wasn't) and then time out and turn on the radio.

I then purchased another remote CD player on Ebay (like the original) and it would try to read the CD, but would display "Err" on the radio. I then thought maybe the radio head was the problem or maybe this CD player is also bad. But, before I sink any more money into this problem, should try to replace the CD player again, or replace the radio head or just go to Walmart and replace them both with a radio/CD combo unit? And, if I should replace with the combo unit, does someone sell an cover/insert to replace the remote CD player?.

Thank you,
Michael

Answer
Certainly, Walmart (or better yet, Circuit City) is the place to go, now.
CC has everything you need for a seamless professional install from nose to tail.
If you own a PC, you might consider a cd/cd-r/cdrw MP3 compatible head unit, then you can pretty much nix the changer idea becuase you can have up to 256 tunes per cd.

Good luck.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
