Audio Systems: Delco CD player in 2001 Suburban Just says Err, canned air, radio buttons

I just bought a 2001 Suburban with a Delco CD/Reciever in it.  When I put in a CD it just sas Err and spits itout. I tried blowing it with canned air and putting in a CD cleaner disk.  It did the same thing with the CD Cleaner disk, just said Err and spit it out.  I also noticed that the first two preset radio buttons are not lit up. Could be totally unrelated but figured I would throw it in incase it is helpful.

You might find a small reset button on it somewhere which may help, but at that age, I would not expect much luck from a factory unit.
Once you are getting the err code, the laser (or some part of it) is probably bad.
It is probably safe to throw the headunit away but do not cut any wires :) Adaptors kits make installing a new one very doable by a careful novice.
