hi i am trying to put in a new deck into my 2000 chev cavalier and i wanted to know is their any way to take off the dash with out breaking it? the plastic dashboards are so eay to break. are there are any hidden screws i should be looking for? or is their a good way to carefully take a dash off so i can put in the new deck?

It can be done.
Being familiar with these types of parts helps, though.
They generally are held in place with a combination of screws and snap-in clips. Once all of the screws are out (if any), you usualy need to pull the bezel off (very carefully, as they can be rather tight). In a perect world you wiggle the bezel lightly from all sides and then work one corner clip loose (the clips are usualy attached to the bezel and come out of the sub dash assembly), followed by any remaining clips. Then you can get at the head unit retaining screws.
 I would not recommend doing this if you are not willing to cover the expense of a mistake.
However, replacement parts can be very cheap if a salvage yard has them.
You may want to check this out first and weigh the costs before continuing.
