Audio Systems: Volume control problem/ radio reception, 1987 toyota 4runner, wiring interface

Question
I am trying to install an Aiwa cd player(CDC-Z107) into my 1987 Toyota 4runner. After everything is hooked up, there is no radio reception whatsoever(not even static) and I am unable to change the volume of the audio on cds or from the aux port. I have tried adjusting the volume from 0 all the way to 80 (the max for the player) with absolutely no change in the sound level. I could tune into the radio and adjust the volume with the factory set. What is causing my problem?

Answer
Its' hard to say. It could be a bad deck, a bad wire/component or a bad install (wiring interface).
I do not know much about the vehicle so I cannot say for sure what may be up with the rest of the system, but you might wnat to try a new test antenna (as to reception).
I presume you can hear sound but not changes in volume. Check the owners manual for a mute feature that may be on.

Sorry, but you will need someone to see it in person to get much more help.
