Audio Systems: 2005 silverado Bose stereo system, factory amps, bose system

Question
Hi Cody, I purchased a 05 Silverado. It has the upgraded Bose system. I want to add an amp and sub. In past chevy's I had,I just used the rear speaker output to the amp. But for some reason when I tried it on my new vehicle I got very low sound. I know the amp and speaker are good. I double checked all my wiring, everything was correct. Could it have something to do with the bose system? Any information you have would be great. Thanks, Paul

Answer
Paul,

in most cases even with factory amps you can use a converter box and use your 2 rear speaker leads to this box and have RCA preouts coming to your amp.... you have to get the feed wires from the amp to the speakers and splice to, since this is a late model vehicle you might be pressed to find a good wiring schematic to help you track down the true wires... which is what sounds like the problem .. that you have the right wires but you have them before they go to the amp to get "boosted" hence the low sound.... sorry i cant do more but hopefully this will help get you back to looking for the right wires....

thanks
