Audio Systems: home stereo that has power but does not play., deck components, awia

I have an awia nsx-av900(manufactured 1996) stereo system that will turn on but will not play cassettes and cds.  the cd carousel with go around and pick up the cd but will not play it.  it then goes to the next cd but will not play that one either.  as far as the cassette deck, it will open and close with a cassette in but will not play when play button is pushed.  I hope this is enough info that you can help me.  if not let me know.  I would like to fix this since i'm in an area where i would have to travel 75 miles to get it repaired.

sorry, but you'll have to take it somewhere to get it repaired. sounds like a mechanical misalignment of deck components, too much for me to tell you what to look for, once unit is completely apart. due to age of unit, i strongly recommend replacement. i'd also get one that is xm ready, that's better than sliced bread.
