Audio Systems: Car radio Code, antitheft devices, radio code

Question
Hi Cody

I have a Ford Escort (British) and the battery recently went flat. Now the radio/CD player doesn't work. I have to put a code in. I have a code (it was written inside the audio manual when i bought the car). However, I follow the instructions and I get a message saying... "wait 30". The radio counts down 30 minutes (which takes ages when you are sitting there waiting for it to pass!!). Then it simply asks me to enter the code again. Can you advise me? I have up to 10 attempts before it prevents further code entries and I'm already up to number 6 (and getting very frustrated). Am I doing something wrong or is it possible that the code written inside the audio book is wrong, if so what can i do?
Thanks
Gary

Answer
Gary,

OEM antitheft devices can be a real pain .. it sounds like the code is just not correct.. but the only way i know of ever getting this type of problem solved is by giving the manufactor a call .. in this case call ford.. the customer service number should be in your owners manual and you might have to have your VIN number handy to verify some information .. and they should be able to walk you through getting the unit activated even having your reset the unit itself .. hope this helps you out

thanks
