Audio Systems: CDs quit playing in car cd player, car cd player, music side

This problem has expanded from burned cd's but that's where it started. I have burned some music CD's and they played just fine in my car. But after 7 monthes or so all of a sudden they quit playing and the cd player kicks em out with an error. I don't understand how they could have played for so long then all of a sudden they don't. Now lately I have ran into a new problem with a store bought cd as well. I got one that has a double disk on both sides of the cd. One side is the music side and when you flip the cd over it has the dvd side with videos and dvd music. The cd player in my car kicks it out too. I have tried both sides and it still wont read it. I'm so lost as to why this is happening. Any help you can offer would be great.

  sounds like you might be in store for replacing the cd unit .. but first try a cleaner cd you can pick one up at wal-mart or just about anywhere for a few bucks and try cleaning the unit to see if that helps or improves... if not i would suggest swaping out with a good aftermarket cd player, because the problem could be a weak laser which isnt worth trying to have repaired... hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know
