Audio Systems: 2001 neon equalizer light, light orange, bright orange

the radio does not work all but three lights on the equalizer they blink blank, light orange and then a bright orange and back to blank, does anyone know as to what might cause this, I have taken the radio out of the car and put it back it and it worked, it would work until I shut off the car, now the only thing that happens is the blinking equalizer lights

 sounds like a short or loose connection inside the unit, really no fix for it less than taking it to a small electronics repair shop and having someone take alook at it for you .. it also might be some form of diagnostics but this is doubtful read in your owners booklet about the radio to see if it describes any of the things that you are experienceing... but my best advice is the unit isnt worth trying to save since the repair bill would easly over tally the price of an aftermarket replacement i would suggest going the route of a good aftermarket unit along with a dash install kit and adapter harness... circuit city, best buy and some other places will do the install for you if you buy the unit from them ... hope this helps you out sorry i cant do more
