QuestionI have a 2001 Grand Sport with the 8 speaker Infinity system with the 4 disc changer. The changer died about a year back, and recently the radio started flashing and not playing in hot weather (read your last post on this).
I ordered an older non-cd controller model off e-bay, that has the same jacks in the back except for the cd controller cable and the PCI bus cable. It is the same model # except for a couple of letters at the end. It will not power up.
Through experimenting, I have found that the original system will not draw power without the little PCI cable attached (one wire - violet/white), but will power when it is (it doesn't work, but will flash the display).
Is there a way to attach the PCI cable so that the older radio (from ebay) will work? Can the PCI cable be routed through the stock harness? It seems that this little computer gizmo-cable keeps the radio from powering - even though power comes into the hot wire.
Any help is appreciated, and you guys rock!!
Answeronly thing i can say is those letter differences are probably the proprietary configuration codes, and i have absolutely no idea exactly what the different pin configuration is. i also would've gone to a junkyard before e-bay, that way you get the exact configuration. anything more, you're going to have to ask a good professional installer.....
