Motorcycle Repair: 1982 Yamaha XJ750 Seca, yamaha xj750, bikebandit com

Question
Hello Mark.  I'm Eric.  I have a question regarding a 1982 Yamaha XJ750RJ.  Since many of the parts for this bike are discontinued, I'm currently having difficulty replacing a speedometer since that too has been discontinued.  The needle for the speedometer is broken and I cannot tell my speed.  I'd like to know what suggestions you may have as to a speedometer belonging to another bike that may fit or any place else I may get a replacement part.  To get a better understanding of what the part looks like, here is the Bikebandit.com part number - 297820-001  Hopefully you may assist me in my question and I thank you for answering.

Answer
Hi Eric,

I don't know of any specific speedo that will replace the XJ's, but I've had success with various Yamaha parts interchanging.

Try searching eBay and other XJ dedicated websites for discontinued parts resources.

Check out this website:

Maybe the XJ's gauges can be repaired at home.
