Audio Systems: Car Stereo, clarion head, pontiac grand prix

Question
I just recently bought a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix. I installed a Clarion deck from my previous car. I had to butt connect the wiring harness to install the deck. I'm not sure what the problem is, but all of a sudden, my rear speakers do not work. I've tried everything from tightening and replacing some of the butt connectors, checked all fuses that may be related to the speakers, and checked the actual speakers to see if it came disconnected, but everything checks out ok. Everything else works, fine, but my 2 rears do not work at all. Am I missing anything?

Answer
I see two things that have been missed (and I am not aware of which [if any] fuses would be associated with the speakers on a Clarion head unit).

1)
Test the speakers, directly.
Disconnect the speaker to be tested from the cars' wires.
Get a 9v battery and (using short wires) connect its leads to each speaker to be tested for a SHORT moment. The speaker should move and you should hear what is known as a 'pop' or thump. If it does move/pop it will probably make sound and likely works.
*You might want to note that the speaker moves a certain way (in or out of its frame) when tested. This can be very useful when trying to determine the speaker polarity when connecting speakers up to the radio up in the front. If the cone moves out of the basket, the lead going to the positive of the 9v battery is the positive lead of the speaker. If it goes in towards the basket/frame, the lead hooked to the negative of the test battery is positive of the speaker.
If you find that the speakers are dead, replace them.

2)
If you find that they pass the test:
Run new speaker wires, rewire and do your 'popper' tests to get the polarity correct.
If the problem still persists it is the deck or your connections from the deck.

Good Luck
