Audio Systems: auto cd player, auto cd player, stereo cassette

I have a 1999 olds silhouette mini-van that has a factory installed am/fm stereo cassette/cd player.  When I insert a cd it comes right back out and "err" is displayed on the screen.  Everything else works fine.  What is wrong?

there's several things that err can stand for, the easiest and only thing you yourself can do is to try using a lens cleaning cd(not the cheapest one though) several times and see if that is the problem. if that doesn't help, professional servicing is needed at your local auto sound servicer. expect to pay $100- $150 though. next choice is try to find identical stereo at your local junkyard. last and overall best choice is replace it with a new unit. you can find out what fits your vehicle by going to crutchfield.com and enter make, year and model.......g......
