Audio Systems: Car Radio/Stereo System Repair, factory radio, correct frequency

Question
I have a 1990 Olds Cutlas Calais with a factory radio/CD player.
The clock is also part of this unit. The car was not driven for
approximately three months and I am now getting it ready
to sell. After replacing the battery everything is working properly
except for the radio. The clock gains approximately 3 hours a
day and the radio does not indicated the correct frequency when
tuned to a station. For instance, if the radio is playing 95.5 FM
the indicated frequency is 88.3. Prior to putting the car into
storage the radio was working correctly and had never required
any repairs.

Is there anything that can be done to correct these problems?

Answer

lemme see
15-16 year old car... factory GM radio.

Outside of possibly finding a reset button on it you are in need of a new radio. You are lucky to have gotten as many years as you did out of it. They are notorious for losing solder joints to the displays from normal use, vibration ect..
You could get it repaired, it will still be a 15 year old radio when you get it back and something else could die inside it the very next day.

Go to walmart and get you an indash Durabrand deck for under 100.00. Actually, you can get an indash CD-r/CD-rw/CD/Radio that supports Mp3 format for about 86.00 there. The install kit and wirirng harness adaptors are available as well at wallmart, meaning you would not have to cut any of the GM wires at all and still be under 100.00. :)
