Audio Systems: kenwood car stereo, fuse panel, exact model

Question
My stereo in my car quit working, checked the fuses, fuse panel in car, under the hood, and 1 in the radio. All okay, is there anything else to check. Nothing works, won't even eject, no lights, no power, nothing. Model is Kenwood KDC-716S If its done can I get a model similiar to it where I can just slide it in its place.

Answer
first off, you need a dc meter to verify that power is getting to the stereo. if not, there are sections of wire called 'fusible links' that burn out (often without blowing fuses)and must be replaced with the same size links. if power is actually getting to stereo, something internal is probably shot, and replacement is cheaper than repair. only the exact model will just hook right up, similar units may/may not be wired the same.
