Audio Systems: Car radio - Nothing, jeep wrangler, cassette radio

I purchased my car 6 months ago (a 97 Jeep Wrangler).  Since then, the cassette/radio occasionally switches stations mid-playing, or the clock will suddenly jump to the next hour each minute.  In the last few days, there has been no display whatsoever.  No radio, no clock, no tapes.  Today, the clock blinked on for about 2 minutes, and then went back out.  What could be causing this?  Is it the unit or something in the car itself?  Thanks!

i would go ahead and replace it, trying to get it fixed would more than likely be more expensive than replacing it with a better unit. if you want the same type unit, best bet is visiting your local junkyard and getting the same thing. servicing old one just isn't a feasible solution.
