Audio Systems: Dodge Dakota Stereo Upgrade, infinity systems, other vehicles

Question
I have a 1995 Dodge Dakota with an Infinity CD player. I've installed head units, amps, and speakers in all my cars over the years and have never had a problem until now. I bought a wiring harness adapter to ease the installation on a new deck. I used this to install three different decks, and all of them have the same problem in this Dakota. Sound only comes out of the front speakers and it's VERY quiet and sounds like the bass and treble in all the way down. These decks work fine in other vehicles. Did I wire something wrong, should I get a better adapter, should I even use an adapter? Thanks a lot.

Answer
Ben,
The Infinity systems are premium sound systems that use an external amp. It's possible that the new stereo if it is an aftermarket unit is not connected properly to turn on the external amp/s. Give me more details on what you are trying to do.
