Audio Systems: Car Speaker Installation, delco electronics, stock speakers

Question
Hi, I own a 1995 GMC Sonoma Regular Cab Truck. I recently purchased and installed a Pioneer Deck (DEH-1700) and Alpine 6.5" speakers (SPS-170A), which are mounted in the door panels. I got them both installed at best buy. I thought I would be able to get by without replacing the stock dash speakers, and save money at the same time. However, I more recently purchased a pair of 4x6" Pioneer (TS-A4670R) also from Best Buy. I am not willing to spend the extra money on getting them installed as I hear it is quite simple. Nevertheless, it seems I am already stuck. I removed the speakers and am left with the clip but im not sure how to connect the new speakers. They come with two wire connectors and I am pretty sure I need to splice the old ones and attach these new ones. The stock speakers are dead and are making my Alpines sound bad lol,  so I need to replace them but there is no way im paying another $40 for a simple installation. The stock speakers, also 4x6"s read the following on the back: REV.00, Delco Electronics, 16157267, 10 OHM, 4BN5S. What I would like to know is step by step, how install the new speakers. I really appreciate any help, also I heard you were the man to go haha. Thank you very much. Have a good one.

Answer
Ryan,
before you connect any wires to the new speakers first see if you can physically mount the speakers in the cut outs where the original factory speakers were located. Also try to fit the speaker covers over the speakers. You might have to make up a couple of metal spacers or brackets so you can screw the new speakers onto, however this depends whether or not the holes line up. You may need to cut off the factory connector that plugged onto the factory speakers.
If you make/get the new speakers to fit then all you need to do now is to either attach the factory wires to the new speakers by using a soldering iron, or splice the factory wires onto a short length of the wire that came with the new speakers.
