Audio Systems: 3 Delco Stereos, Same Problem, 1984 pontiac fiero, delco radios

Question
Finally got the factory wiring back to normal in my 1984 Pontiac Fiero, as the previous owner had cut it all up to put in a CD player, and finished soldering together my adaptor harness so I could use newer 89-00 Delco radios, but had the same problem with all three when I plugged them in: The clocks work and keep time, but nothing else seems to work!

1) AM/FM/Cassette w. equalizer from 1984 Chevrolet truck: First one I tried, hooked directly to repaired factory wiring. Can push volume button to display time for a few seconds, but then fades away. When I tried setting the time, I could advance the hours and minutes, but it would turn off as I was adjusting it, and I'd have to press the volume button again to display it, and keep setting it (it WOULD keep the set time though)

2) AM/FM/Cassette from 1990 ?
Same as first, using adaptor harness

3) AM/FM/CD w equalizer (UP3) from 1999 Pontiac Sunfire:
When I hooked up the adaptor harness, I heard the unit "whir" and it did this one more time when I pressed the Eject button. Pressing the minute and hour buttons would display the time.

All units do still keep time after the car is off.

SO: What is wrong? Are ALL of them fried, or could there be something in the wiring? I don't know what else the previous owner could have done, I got all the wiring matched up with the original.

Any help appreciated!!! Thank you!

Answer
RW,
The problem may be with the way the newer stereos are wired up, possibly the main power feed to the stereos is not connected. The stereos need two 12 volt power feeds, one 12 volt at all times for clock and station memory and a second 12 volt source that is switched with the key (main power feed) The memory wire is OK or the clock wouldn't keep time. If the stereos will turn on, but no sound the problem may be that the newer stereos need an external amp to function?
