Audio Systems: power problems, cda 9833, alpine system

Question
Hi jerry, I have a 99 sunfire with an alpine system. I am running a cda-9833 deck, s-series speakers, 1 12 inch s-series sub and an m-350 amp. The problem is if I turn the volume past 50% or so the sytem will shut down and restart. On some advice I had I replaced my battery but that didnt help. The problem seems to be isolated with the sub since the amount I have the sub turned up seems to effect how high I can turn my volume up. Would a second or high performance battery help this problem? thanks justin.

Answer
no..
It is most likely a combo two things.

1) The amp level is set too high.  Incorrect amplifier gain is a common problem. You should try to turn down the amp level until you can crank it to the moon at the deck.
2) The Alternator is not large enough. Another very common problem.

Batteries will only give you more run time when the car is off, to be SURE, while the car is running, ALL of the power comes from the alternator.

Sincerely,
Jerry Mael

One thing that might help you (once the other two are taken care of) are stiffining capacitors. 1 farad should do the job.
