Honda Repair: need help with sensors, dont wanna get ripped off, please help!, speedometer needle, acura dealership

Question
this is about an acura legend, hopefully you can help me. My name is Rosie, I'm from Brooklyn, New York.  Just recently I've started to have problems with my legend, its a 94 ls sedan, my pride and joy.  The thing is that the speedometer needle begins to go crazy after about an hour of driving it and shortly after, the d4 light begins to blink.  I took it to this transmission spot for a diagnostics check and they told me it was the vss sensor which explains it, but, they also told me the code for the countershaft speed sensor appeared and needed to be replaced as well and that in total the repair would be $950.  I think that sounds like a ripp off.  Through your website i found out that the vss goes for about $75 and more or less $80 for labor but I can't find one single piece of info on the countershaft sensor so i don't know what it does or anything.  If you can please help me or point me in the right direction.  I need to know what it is and how much the sensor goes and what the charge for the work usually is or more or less how long does it take to do since i know its on hourly rate or a number or website where i can find that info.  I called an acura dealership and they were completely useless.  I hope you can help....get back to me asap...thank u so much!!

Answer
Rosie:
I'm not sure what the countershaft speed sensor as I do not show that part for a '94 Legend. The speed sensor sounds normal and not out of reason for the problem you describe. I would suggest you find another mechanic to get a second opinion if you do not feel comfortable with the one you took your car to. Let me know if there is a mistake on the part as I did look this up on the Acura site.
Hope this helps.
