Audio Systems: Toyota OEM Radio Fit, auto salvage yards, oem radio

Question
Tom, I am trying to buy an OEM replacement CD/AM/FM Cassette unit for a 95 Tercel on eBay.  One of the sellers mentioed going to the Toyota web site with the OEM part number to see if it would fit the Tercel.  Couldn't find anyplace on that site for such information.  What next?  Any suggestions?

Second: For a while I would loose sound in the rear speakers.  Turning up the volume would make them work again.  Then they went out alltogether.  Same thing happened ot the front left speaker.  Now it doesn't work.  Any idea what the problem is?  Can it be repaired?

Answer
Ted,
If you are looking for a replacement stereo your best bet is to call auto salvage yards that deal mostly in Toyota vehicles. If you find a dealer that has a stereo for your vehicle you may be able to plug it in while there and test the stereo. The problem with the sound going out may be due to defective speakers, or defective connections on the pins of the amp ICs inside the stereo. My shop repairs many of these Toyota stereos, please contact me by direct Email for more details.
