Audio Systems: 1999 Mazda 626 w/ Bose aftermarket stereo installation, bose radio, premium sound system

Question
I am trying to install a Pioneer DEH-P3700MP stereo into my 1999 Mazda 626 ES.  The factory system was a Bose radio and 6-speaker surround. I purchased the aftermarket adapters (the Metra brand) for converting my original wiring harness to something that would plug into the Pioneer without having to splice the wires together.  The system is going through two adapters, one to take the factory harness to a universal Metra plug, and one to take the Metra plug to the Pioneer plug.

All of this went smootly until I turned the stereo on. It is receiving power, turns on and off, receives signal from the antenna, and functions correctly in all things but one: the speaker output. I get no noise from the speakers at all, not even a white noise hiss, regardless of the volume I turn the radio to or the settings I have it on.

Can you suggest what may be causing this and/or how to repair it?  Thanks in advance for your time and help. :)

Answer
Melanie,
The no sound problem is due to your vehicle having an external amp that was used for the premium sound system. You will need to locate the power amp and then bypass the amp using the correct bypass adapters.
