Audio Systems: car stereo, saturn l series, flip down

I have a 2000 Saturn L series.  I have a sony flip down stereo cd player and it has been stuck in the closed position for about a week.  Please tell me how I can get it to open, because I do not have access to any of the controls (ie- volume, power, etc.)  Can this be a wiring problem or is it broken?  The stereo was already in the car when I bought it used.

You may want to try doing a master reset of the stereo by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. This will sometimes reset the processor in the stereo for normal operation. If this master reset doesn't help the stereo will need to be repaired.
