Audio Systems: Pioneer install, no sound, pioneer deh, volt power

Question
Installed Pioneer DEH-445 into 93 Cavalier.  The unit powers up, and plays CDs, but no sound comes out of the speakers.  We triple-checked the wiring, and it is all correct, and all connections are secure and taped.  We are missing the adapter to hook up the antenna, but we figured the cd player would still work.  We can't even get static out of the radio.  The CD player has been sitting in my garage for over a year since I took it out of my 96 Intrepid.  Prior to that, it was actually in this Cavalier (when we initially purchased the unit).  It has worked fine up to this point.  We put the factory unit back in the Cavalier, and that works fine.  There is no amplifier, and no other after-market stuff on the stereo.  I am just trying to swap out the factory unit so that I have a CD player.  Is my CD player shot?

Answer
Jason,
If the factory stereo works when connected, the problem is either with the adapter connector or in the stereo. Make sure that both 12 volt power feeds are connected and that the speaker connections are wired correctly. If all connections are correct the stereo itself may be faulty.
