Audio Systems: Car Install, Power Issue, volt source, blown fuse

Question
Tom,
If the after market radio wires dont have 12 volts on them, then what do i do next? Also, how does that explain my old original factory car radio not working?

Tom,
I took out my factory car deck for a Toyota Corolla 1996, and when i tried to put the new deck in after connecting wires, it wouldnt work, so i put the old factory deck back in and that doesnt work, it seems like i dont have power, i checked the fuse that is described as "CIG & RADIO" and its fine, are there any other fuses, or issues that could occur because i didnt change anything and the old radio doesnt work, when plugged in, thanks in advance

Sunil,
Your stereo has two 12 volt sources, one 12 volts at all times and a second 12 volt source switched with the key on. If you installed an after market stereo, look over the install instructions to see what wire is for station/clock memory(yellow wire) and main power (red wire)Then use a test lamp to make sure both wires have 12 volts on them.

Answer
Sunil,
First off, is the factory connector for the original stereo still OK in the dash? As for most stereos they will have two 12 volt supply lines to them. One or both 12 volt supply lines may have a blown fuse in the circuit. Use a test lamp to check out the supply lines.
