Audio Systems: 1996 VW Passat & 1995 VW Jetta Radios Remove & Install, vw jetta, vw passat

My 1996 VW Passat radio on/off - volume switch is faulty and extremely loose.  I would like to replace Passat radio with that of 1995 VW Jetta ( with front panel holes and clips to hold in radio).

First Passat radio does not have front panel holes to release clips.  How do I remove the 1996 VW Passat radio?

Second what do I have to do to install the 1995 Jetta radio in the 1996 Passat without problem?

To remove the stereo from the 96 VW you will have to remove the trim piece around the stereo to gain access to the screws or plastic clips that hold the stereo into the dash. If both stereos have the same type of connectors on them then the 95 jetta stereo should work OK in the 96 VW
