Audio Systems: electrical problems, dodge caravan, memory wire

Question
Tom                                                I recently installed an aftermarket(jensen)radio in a 1996 dodge caravan. The previous owner cut the wires so i did not use a harness and i had to guess what wire goes where. The radio works fine but the problem is when i turn on the car the wipers turn on but quickly turn themselves off, the dome light no longer works when the doors open and the car is off but it does work when manually turned on but only when the car is on. Also the radio is not holding memory. When you turn off the car the clock goes back to 12:00 and the saved stations are gone. Please give me some advice on how to fix this problem.                                                       George

Answer
George,
Most likely you may have some wires incorrectly connected. The memory wire (yellow) from the stereo should be connected to a 12 volt hot at all times source. Also the dimmer wire may be connected incorrectly. You can check out the correct wires for connecting the stereo at, streetdreams.com
