Audio Systems: i have made progress since last post., ribbon cable, face plate

Question
I was successful in resetting it and it plays just fine now and stays on. it malfunctions only when i press "open" and the 2nd display face folds out.. then it dies again and i must reset it again. but as long as i keep it closed, then it works fine. could the mechanized face be pulling some wire lose as it folds out? thanks again, this site is what ive been looking for. great idea, great service. thanks -jake

I don't recall the make and model of your stereo, but can tell you by experience that on many of the stereos that have a moving face plate assembly the ribbon cable that connects the face plate to the main circuit board can crack/break. With a break in the ribbon cable the stereo will malfunction and shut off when connections open up. Please give me the complete make and model number of your stereo.
