Audio Systems: cd player not turning on, pioneer cd player, blown fuses

Question
i connected the yellow battery wire to the battery wire in my car. the only wire i have left is the "remote control access" wire. i dont have an amp or power antenna. still did not turn on. i also tried connecting the yellow battery wire directly to the battery and it still doesnt turn on. could i have shorted the radio or sumthin? i dont have any blown fuses. i connected the wiring harness for the radio and the car in my house and rechecked the wires before i connected the radio to the car. the only thing i think i did wrong was connecting the ground wires together when the car was running. could that have shorted the radio? my radio is a pioneer model number is deh 16.-------------------------

i am trying to put a pioneer cd player in my 1984 camaro z28. i connected all the wires accept for "remote control access", "battery" and the ground wire. i know the battery wire is suppose to be connected to something which i thought was another yellow wire but i cant find a yellow wire on my wiring harness. is it suppose to be connected to a different color? why is the radio not working.

Dustin,
Unless your vehicle has a power amp in the trunk or a powered antenna, don't worry about the remote control wire, just tape it up. If you are not using the adapter connector that plugs onto the factory connector go to the following site to look up the wire colors and their use at.  streetdreams.com The pioneer stereo has two power wires for 12 volts. The red wire must go to a switched source with the key on, and the yellow wire must go to a 12 volt hot at all times terminal for station memory.

Answer
Dustin,
Try pulling the stereo out of the dash and connect the RED and the YELLOW wire together. Connect the ground on the battery and the red/yellow wires to the plus terminal and see if the stereo will turn on now. Make sure that none of the speaker wires are shorting to the ground/chassis or together. With the stereo connected under the hood directly to the battery, look for and press the small reset button somewhere on the front panel. If the stereo still will not turn on the stereo will need to be serviced.
