Audio Systems: 300M replace front door speakers, chiltons repair book, car stereos

I have a 99 Chrysler 300M, the front left door speaker must have blown, any base causes it to vibrate.  My question is I took it to an car audio place and they wanted anywhere from 200 to 300 for labor and parts since it was an infinity setup with a amp in the trunk.  It has been awhile since I have messed around with car stereos but shouldnt I just be able to replace just the front speakers.   If so, is there a place which shows how to go about the door disasembly so I could replace the speakers myself.  Or should I just bite the bullet and pay for them to do the work.  Thanks

Your best bet would be to purchase the Chiltons repair book for your vehicle. These books are available at most good auto parts outlets for about $20. The book will give you wiring diagrams as well as how to disassemble the door panels and other areas if needed. You should be able to purchase a replacement speaker from the dealer. When you have the door panel off check the speaker for a broken/cracked paper cone, if the cone isn't cracked the problem may be with the factory amp.
