Audio Systems: chrysler stereo compatibility, chrysler stereo, dodge 1500

Question
I have a 1995 Dodge 1500 truck with a  factory Chrysler cassette stereo installed. I want to replace it with a 2004 Chrysler CD player from a 2004 Dodge truck. Is the wiring connector compatible to the new stereo? If not, Is there an adapter that is available? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.. Terry

Answer
Terry,
The 2004 stereo may be a premium system that uses an external amp that may be mounted behind the seats of the truck. The connectors might not be the same, however you could always cut the wire pigtail out of the 2004 vehicle if it is in a salvage yard. You may also be able to purchase the connector that plugs into the 2004 stereo. There are many companies that sell adapter connectors that plug onto the factory connector in the 1995 vehicle. If you purchase both connectors all the wires will be marked for what they are used for, power and speakers.
